ARRIVING FOR OUR OPEN MORNING:
PEONY FIELD TOUR 2026
7th June, 10am - 1pm
INFO FOR YOUR VISIT TO FLOUER’S PEONY FIELD
Flouer Flowers are looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 7th June, from 10am to 1pm.
FLOUER FLOWERS PEONIES
LOCATION:
Address: Hadden Farm Ltd, Hadden Farm, Kelso, TD5 8HU (but please follow the Google maps directions to the farmyard for parking)
HADDEN FARM’S FARMYARD DIRECTIONS, GOOGLE MAPS
PARKING:
Please park in our farmyard. Follow the link above to see the dropped pin on Google Maps.
(please follow the directions of the dropped pin above as the Hadden Farm Ltd directions on Google Maps brings you to the house). If you do accidentally arrive at the house first - please drive along the road between the two fenced paddocks (yellow with buttercups) and go straight on towards the farmyard that way - where everyone is parking.
We will start, in the new shed in the farmyard, with teas and coffees and a presentation from me on ‘why I decided to farm cut flower peonies’ and how I designed the peony field - and all the dramas that ensued just getting the roots into the soil.
We will then walk together down to the peony field to see the peonies in all their glory!
If you arrive after we have already left for the peony field - please follow the white branded FLOUER buckets (like the white rabbit - you might also see some brown ones on the way) all the way to the field.
Anyone with mobility issues please let us know on arrival and we can have you drive to the house and drop off there. And we’ll help you find the best way to access the field too.
TOILET:
There is a toilet at the farmyard. Inside the door below the Brambles Bistro sign (my husband’s late uncle’s lofty name for the farm kitchenette).
PICNIC:
You’re welcome to bring a picnic rug and picnic brunch/lunch, your morning coffees etc & sit & enjoy the atmosphere in the field.
(Just for ease for us, we will have simple teas and coffees available with cow’s milk - please bring your own milk if you prefer plant based milks etc. at the presentation.)
MOBILITY AROUND THE FIELD:
The field is on a slope so it does take a little effort to walk from the bottom to the top.
Footings on the small connecting paths can be uneven. So, if you have any balance issues etc, we recommend you keep to the main grassy roads that divide the field into four quadrants and surround the perimeter.
PEONY BUNCHES FOR SALE:
We will have bunches of our peonies available for sale (cash or card) for you to take home with you.
THE WEATHER:
It will be warm and breezy on Sunday (breezy for us at Hadden is windy for many) . So the peonies will be dancing for you. We do have lots of windbreaks throughout the field - so that the peonies can withstand much heavier winds, so there will be sheltered nooks for you to sit on picnic rugs throughout the field and enjoy the heady peony scents on the air. There are also intermittent benches through the field so that you can sit and admire the view. And, please do bring along a picnic brunch if you would like.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 7th June from 10am to 1pm.
There will be bunches for sale in the presentation shed so you can collect those when you return to your car.
A Notice to Dog Owners
Our apologies, but for bio-security reasons and as the field is an extension of our garden and there will be small children in attendance, only guide dogs or legitimate service dogs may enter the field.
And as we have (highly flighty) thoroughbred mares and youngstock elsewhere on the farm please respect that we cannot risk having any dogs off their leads elsewhere on the farm, and all dog poo MUST be bagged and taken home with you to avoid any risk of abortions in our breeding stock.
